FAQ

  • Are the candles and wax melts vegan?
Yes! The wax we use is parasoy for our candles and 100% soy for our wax melts. Our supplier advises that this is vegan and animal cruelty free.
  • Are the scents used toxic?
Our suppliers are required by law to confirm to the IFRA Standards. All mixtures are in compliance with the International Fragrance Association (IFRA). As a consequence, a full documented report of all ingredients found in each fragrance can be found via our suppliers' respective websites: Supplies for Candles Craftovator CraftHQ If you are particularly concerned about a particular candle blend, and require assurance of its compliance with IFRA Standards, please don't hesitate to contact us. Oils are confirmed to not posses harmful or negative impacts to those that consume them safely. The concentrations of oils used in Owlbearium's products is incredibly small. All oils contain non-animal derived components, in the worst case scenario can cause sensitive skin irritation. In extremely rare cases, those with pre-existing and highly advanced respiratory conditions may experience mild irritation around fragranced products. However, this is a small percentage of people and does not concern an incredibly large number of the population.
  • Are allergens labelled on the products?
Owlbearium, ensures that allergens are listed in all product descriptions and on all product labels wherever required. All products are labelled in compliance with current CLP Standards, as well as each product being sufficiently labelled with usage instructions and important safety guidance.
  • How do I care for my candles?
Avoid excessive burn time, no more than 4 hours is recommended. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Trim the wick to 1/4 " tall before every burn to keep the wax clean and burning nicely. Allow candle to melt to the edge of the vessel. This prevents future tunnelling. Burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable objects. Be cautious when burning glass jar candles, as if they are used in a room which experiences cold temperatures, the burning flame glass can crack due to temperature shock. When there is 1cm of wax remaining in your candle, it is recommended that you snuff out the flame and do not relight. The most common cause of glass cracking is that there isn’t enough wax left to absorb the heat of the flame, making the glass very hot. This can cause the glass to crack after an extended period. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
  • How do I care for my wax melts.
Place melts in a clean and empty oil burner or electric warmer bowl. Burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable objects. Do not add any water or oil and use unscented tealights. Never leave a burning burner unattended. Do not burn your wax warmer for more than 4 hours at a time. Wax can be reused until the scent has faded. Once faded remove and add new. When the fragrance is spent, allow wax to cool and harden, remove from the bowl and dispose with household waste. Do not wash or dispose spent wax down the drain! You can light a tea light and after a few seconds it will warm the bottom of the wax enough to push out of the oil bowl and then wipe clean. You can use a blunt instrument to gently persuade the wax from the burner. If you want to crack on with your next melt, but your wax is still in liquid form, use a cotton ball to soak it up and empty the bowl. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
